The Trango Tower is a granite spire located in the Baltoro Muztagh subrange of the Karakoram. The vertical spires were climbed by Galen Rowell, Kim Schmitz, John Roskelly, and Dennis Hennek in 1977. Situated in the heart of the Karakoram in the Shiger Valley, the tower reaches a maximum altitude of 6286 meters above sea level. It is considered the most stunning peak among the 6000ers in the Karakoram. Also known as the Nameless Tower, climbing it requires a high level of rock climbing skill due to its stunning granite wall. Proper gear for rock climbing is crucial when attempting to ascend the tower.
The expedition begins from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. At Islamabad International Airport, the staff of Trans Karakoram Treks, Tours, and Expeditions warmly welcome the honorable members. They are then transferred to the hotel, and the following morning, the journey commences with a flight to Skardu, soaring over the majestic peaks of the Himalayas and Karakoram. The scenic flight offers mesmerizing views of the mountains and landscape of the region. After a day of rest and acclimatization in Skardu, the journey continues early in the morning to Askoli village, the last accessible place by jeep. After a night’s stay and preparation of luggage, the trek begins towards the basecamp of Trango Tower. After three days of trekking, we will reach the basecamp, where the climbing period starts with some rest, preparation, and acclimatization.
