The K2 Expedition is an ultimate adventure that combines the excitement of climbing and trekking amidst the glacial settings of the Baltoro Glacier with the delights of touring the vibrant valleys of Skardu, Shigar, and Askoli in the Himalayan and Karakoram regions. The expedition offers spectacular views of various world-renowned peaks, such as Broad Peak (8,044m), Gasherbrum Group, Chogolisa (7,686m), Golden Throne (7,365m), Trango Tower, and many more.
Trans Karakoram has been organizing K2 Expeditions for mountain enthusiasts worldwide for over four decades. Our comprehensive logistical services cater to 60-90 day-long K2 expeditions during both summer and winter seasons, which can be adjusted based on your experience, skill level, and available time.
Our K2 Expedition commences from Islamabad, where our guide will welcome you to the international airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is reserved for rest and recovery from the journey, with an afternoon briefing about the expedition. On the following day, you will board a scenic mountain view flight to Skardu in Baltistan, offering breathtaking glimpses of the magnificent Nanga Parbat, K2, and other stunning Himalayan and Karakoram peaks. After checking into your hotel, you may choose to rest or explore the local Skardu Bazar. Skardu serves as the gateway to K2 Base Camp Trek, Gondogoro La, Broad Peak, Mashabrum, Gasherbrums, and other famous Karakoram peaks.
In Skardu, trekkers and climbers usually make their final purchases and top-ups for their mountaineering endeavours. After spending two days in Skardu, we will drive in a jeep to Askoli, the last civilization before entering the Karakoram wilderness. You will spend your first-night camping under the stars in Askoli, and the trekking session of the expedition will commence from here as you walk towards Braldu Gorge and then to the snout of the Baltoro Glacier, which you will follow to Concordia.
After a night’s stay at Concordia, you will trek to K2 Base Camp, where your climbing session of the expedition begins. We will pitch tents at the K2 Base Camp for the entire climbing duration, and our mountain guide, chef, and other staff will remain at the base camp throughout the climbing period. Our chef will provide delicious and nutritious meals throughout the expedition as we believe that a balanced and healthy diet plays a vital role in mountaineering. After the climbing period, you will follow the same itinerary back to Islamabad, spending a night there before we transfer you to Islamabad International Airport for your flight back home.
Your K2 Expedition journey concludes in Islamabad, so please ensure that you book your return flight from the Islamabad International Airport.
